The other day, a mate of mine asked me for a favour.
He sent me a link to a YouTube video titled “I Used AI to Make Passive Income While Sleeping (SECRET LOOPHOLE).”
“Is this real?” he asked.
So I fired up a screen recording…
…and ended up recording a 13-minute video where I not only ripped the YouTube video to shreds… but gave him an entire breakdown of why 99% of these videos are pure fantasy.
When I sent it back, my friend replied:
“Man you have gone above and beyond, thanks so much!”
And it got me thinking.
I spent the last seventy-two hours locked in my office, surviving on lukewarm coffee, watching ONE HUNDRED of the most popular “Make Money with AI” videos on YouTube.
I did it so you don't have to.
And let me tell ya…
It was a profound waste of human consciousness.
You know exactly the videos I am talking about. The thumbnail is always some guy with an open mouth, pointing at a glowing red arrow that points to the number $10,492.
They all follow the exact same hamster-wheel formula.
Step one, ask ChatGPT to write a children's book. Step two, use Midjourney to generate some nightmare-fuel illustrations of a dog wearing a hat. Step three, upload it to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. Step four, wait for the millions to roll in.
It is all a massive, coordinated scam. And you are falling for it.
Let me break the fourth wall here. I am writing this article because I am tired of watching smart people get conned by idiots. You are reading this because some part of you already knows the truth:
If a business model is being sold to three million people on YouTube for free… the margin has already been completely destroyed.
The “gurus” selling you these strategies are not making money from the strategies. They are making money from the YouTube ad revenue generated by your desperate clicks.
You are not the entrepreneur in this equation. You are the product.
Let us dissect the absolute absurdity of the “AI Faceless YouTube Channel” advice.
The guru tells you to use AI to scrape Reddit stories, use an AI voiceover to read them, and edit it with AI tools.
Do you really think a platform owned by Google… which has the most sophisticated machine learning engineers on the planet… cannot detect a completely automated, zero-effort video?
YouTube is actively demonetizing these channels every single day. You will spend three weeks setting up an automated pipeline just to get shadowbanned on your first upload.
Then there is the freelance copywriting delusion.
The guru says, “Just go on Upwork, find copywriting jobs, and paste the prompt into ChatGPT! You will make a hundred dollars an hour!”
Let me ask you a very basic logical question.
If a business owner is trying to hire a copywriter on a gig platform… do you not think they also have access to the EXACT same free website you are using?
They do.
And they can spot a ChatGPT-generated email from a mile away. It always starts with “In today's fast-paced digital world…”
If you send that to a real client, you are not getting paid. You are getting blocked.
The truth about making money with AI is incredibly boring, which is why nobody makes YouTube videos about it.
Real wealth in the AI era is not about generating generic content faster than everyone else.
It is about asymmetry.
It is about applying AI to unsexy, hidden problems that actually have a budget.
Look at the new wave of scams hitting the market today. It's no longer just Kindle books. Now they are selling you “AI Agent Templates.”
They promise that if you buy their $997 course, you can install a “sales agent” on a client's website that will close leads automatically.
What they don't tell you is that these agents hallucinate wildly. They promise non-existent discounts. They insult customers. They give away internal company data.
When you install a cheap, templated AI agent on a real business's website… you are creating a massive liability for that business.
And when it inevitably goes wrong, you are the one getting sued.
Instead of trying to sell a five-dollar AI-generated PDF on Etsy… look at real businesses that are bleeding money through inefficiency.
Look at a local logistics company that has to manually route sixty delivery trucks every morning using a massive, disorganized Excel spreadsheet. If you can use AI to build a simple script that optimizes those routes and saves them two hours of fuel and labor every day, they will happily pay you thousands of dollars a month.
Look at regional law firms. They have thousands of pages of legal precedents that junior clerks spend weeks manually reading. If you can build a secure, private AI tool that parses their specific documents and finds the exact clauses they need in seconds, you have a six-figure business.
These are not shiny, viral ideas. You cannot make a neon thumbnail about selling software to a trucking company.
But that is exactly why it works.
When you build solutions for the physical economy, you are operating in a blue ocean. There are no fourteen-year-olds on TikTok competing with you because they do not even know this world exists. They are too busy trying to get ChatGPT to write a viral tweet thread.
Stop playing house with these fake hustle videos. Stop thinking that a prompt is a business model. A prompt is a tool. A business model requires solving a painful, expensive problem for someone who actually has the money to pay you.
The next time you see a thumbnail of a guy pointing at a digital wallet, click “Do Not Recommend.”
You have real work to do.
Now close this tab and go find a real problem to solve.
